Encourage your children to get involved in sport by entering them into the Discover Dunblane 2017 Youth Race taking place on Sunday 28th May 2017.
The 2016 youth race was a huge success so we are eager to get even more children involved in 2017 and can’t wait to see even more smiling faces as they cross the finish line. Open to children aged from nine to fifteen years the 2 km route follows a mixed surface course starting on Dunblane High Street, routing around some of Dunblane’s most iconic landmarks and finishing near Andy Murray’s Gold Post Box. Parents can be assured that the youth event will be heavily marshalled and the route clearly marked with the majority of it being off road.
The most important point to note is that no child will be last in the race. Each child will be chipped and timed so they can celebrate their results and we will have winners in each age category for male and females.
We are huge advocates of the daily mile, which started in our neighbouring city of Stirling and has since been rolled out across hundreds of schools in the UK, Belgium, France and Spain. The results of the daily mile have shown a huge improvement in our children’s physical and emotional health.
We hope that the Dunblane Road Race is the next stage in that and Dunblane can promote a happier and healthier lifestyle through sport.
The youth race entries are now open at a small fee of £5.00 per person. All money raised from the event will go into the Dunblane Community Centre who run a range of youth clubs and sports classes for children and adults.
Could your child be the next Andrew Butchart? There’s only one way to find out!
