Fancy a new challenge in 2017?
Experience the exciting atmosphere of the Dunblane Road Race which is set to take place on 28th May, the same weekend as the Doune and Dunblane Fling making this a day out for the whole family. This spectacular running event is a celebration of Dunblane’s sporting achievements and we are inviting people from all over the UK to take part. The day kicks off at 12pm for the kids 2km race followed by the adults 12km race beginning at 1pm.
In Dunblane, we are passionate about sport and we are keen to get as many young people as possible to take part in the youth race. Therefore, if you have children aged nine to fifteen bring them along to Dunblane and get them involved. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get your kids enthusiastic about sport and encourages them to stay active.
We are delighted to be launching a new start and finish line of the 2017 race which is now in the heart of Dunblane High Street. Enjoy the incredible all-encompassing route of the 12km course taking runners past some of Dunblane’s most iconic landmarks including the golden post box, stunning backdrop of the DoubleTree Dunblane Hydro, through the beautiful village of Kinbuck, past Andy Murray’s exclusive Cromlix House Hotel as well as the picturesque views along the Auchenlay road.
With three Dunblane residents competing in the Olympics earlier this year, 2016 has been a triumphant sporting year for Dunblane and continuing on from their success the Dunblane Road Race is set to be the best yet.
In the early years of the event we are proud to have had Andrew Buchart competing who won in 2008 and continued his success in 2009, 2010 and 2011. After which he went on to take first place in the 5000m British championships securing his place at the 2016 Olympics in Rio where he competed alongside Mo Farah.
This fresh, challenging event is a fantastic addition to the 2017 sporting calendar that’s suitable for all running abilities, so if you’re ready for your next challenge now’s the time to sign up!
